The Pledge of Allegiance Should be Recited in Schools

This is a great debate topic. You should be able to find MANY websites with information. Remember to cite experts (name, study, dates of studies, etc). In case you get a little off-track, here are some great websites to help you.

Please remember to submit a list of your sources to me at the time of your debate. Try to use note cards instead of reading entire paragraphs. After several weeks of practice, you should be able to debate a topic using note cards for specific points.

Good luck!

Welcome to Debate Seminar

I know we had a quick overview today but I want to reinforce a few things:

1. No talking while I am talking.
2. Respect yourself and others.
3. Value EVERYONE'S opinion.
4. Check the blog regularly (the night before your class is the best time).
5. Come to class on time.
6. Always bring your agenda book and any other materials necessary for your class.
7. Challenge yourself to do your best work.
8. Bring your debate home--in other words, debate the topics with your parents at dinner!

Post a comment here to tell me why you took the debate seminar and what you expect to get from it. Remember the following rules for posting:

1. Do not post anonymously. Use your first name and last initial. Click the comment button at the bottom of the post and then click name/url and fill in your name.
2. Do not use IM language.
3. Respect others and use appropriate language.
4. Answer the question in full sentences (and more than one sentence would be nice!).
5. I grade EVERYTHING.
